Go Heat, part 2

Lisa was a happy camper at work yesterday... because the Heat won the championship! I admit that I thought they were going to lose the series when I was watching game 3, but what a comeback that was. And I never noticed how good Dwayne Wade was until I watched the finals. Most people in town didn't have a vested interest in either team before the finals started, but I could tell that after game 3, people started pulling for the Heat more and more due to their gutsiness and Wade's spectacular play.

Go Heat

I didn't know this, but Lisa is related to someone on the Miami Heat. Well, not a close relation, but a cousin (or second cousin?) is married to a Heat player's sister. Anyway, so that means I'll be rooting for the Heat against the Mavericks this year. I don't follow either team, and I'm probably not going to watch all the games, but I find that it makes things more interesting when I have someone to root for.

Memorial Day

I was thinking the other day, is "Happy Memorial Day" an appropriate thing to say? For most people, Memorial Day is something to celebrate because we don't have to work. But the holiday is dedicated to those who gave their lives defending the country, so should we treat it as a joyous occasion like, for example, Christmas or Thanksgiving? I don't know the answer. I'll have to think of it some more... on my day off tomorrow. :-)

Back from vacation

I just got back from my vacation in the mountains. It was nice, except that I caught a cold halfway through it. I thought about coming back then, but I decided to just stick it out and see what happens. The scenery was grand, now that spring's in full bloom. As is always the case, I didn't want to go back home, but I eventually did, albeit two days later than I planned to. Oh well, I'm sure nobody cared.

Going on vacation

Now that Lisa has moved out, things are slowing at work, and the weather is turning nice, I've decided to take a week off and head to the mountains for some camping. I'm not sure yet exactly where I'll go, but that's part of the fun.

Lisa is moving out

Lisa is moving out this weekend. She's taking a carload of her things to her home right now. I tried not to be pushy about it and let her decide on her own. As much as I wanted to have my house to myself again, I'd feel awful if something happened to her once she started living by herself again and I was the one responsible for forcing her out. It seems like she genuinely thinks the dangers of earlier this year have passed, so she can go back to her old life. I think so too.

A touchy subject

Over the weekend, I brought up to Lisa the idea of her moving out and back to her own place again. She's been staying at my place for two months now, and while the sheriff hasn't yet caught whoever was responsible for the disappearances, no one else has been kidnapped lately. Maybe the people who did it have been scared off. Lisa said she'd think about it and let me know sometime this week.

It's not that life has been so unbearable with her around, but I just want to be alone sometimes. Part of the reason the topic came up is because it's almost the anniversary of Madeleine's passing. I want to mourn it in private, without Lisa or anyone else around.
