Lisa is moving out

Lisa is moving out this weekend. She's taking a carload of her things to her home right now. I tried not to be pushy about it and let her decide on her own. As much as I wanted to have my house to myself again, I'd feel awful if something happened to her once she started living by herself again and I was the one responsible for forcing her out. It seems like she genuinely thinks the dangers of earlier this year have passed, so she can go back to her old life. I think so too.

A touchy subject

Over the weekend, I brought up to Lisa the idea of her moving out and back to her own place again. She's been staying at my place for two months now, and while the sheriff hasn't yet caught whoever was responsible for the disappearances, no one else has been kidnapped lately. Maybe the people who did it have been scared off. Lisa said she'd think about it and let me know sometime this week.

It's not that life has been so unbearable with her around, but I just want to be alone sometimes. Part of the reason the topic came up is because it's almost the anniversary of Madeleine's passing. I want to mourn it in private, without Lisa or anyone else around.

Tax Day

With everything going on recently -- being sick, working overtime, Lisa moving in, the strange disappearances -- I totally forgot about taxes until someone mentioned it on Friday. Luckily, my taxes aren't that complicated, so I was able to complete them, by hand as always, over the weekend. I also helped Lisa with her taxes, which were even simpler than mine. It felt a little weird to be privy to her finances, but she knew that was required if I was going to help her.

Tomorrow, we suffer through the long post office lines that always spring up on Tax Day.

Sick as a dog

I've been battling some kind of flu since the weekend. It seems to be going around town. Lisa got it too. Maybe it's from working all those long hours and not getting enough to eat or enough rest. Lisa and I both took Monday and Tuesday off work as part of our "comp time", and I think we've recovered enough to go back today. Is that good news or bad, I wonder?

Where did I put my glasses?

I must be getting old. I'm forgetting where I put things. I was settling down to read last night when I couldn't find my reading glasses anywhere. I thought I left them on the nightstand where I usually put them, but they weren't there. I looked under the bed, in the drawers, and then all over the house. In the end, I wound up spending the night trying to find my glasses instead of reading. I hope they turn up today.

Finally, a breather

We're finally getting caught up at work. Lisa and I actually got to leave by 6:00 yesterday. Those of us who have been working long hours all decided to have a nice dinner at Sam's (which the company picked up the tab for). It'll be nice to relax this weekend. Maybe I'll even catch some of the basketball tournament. Nah...
